Please leave the boards out on display until Wednesday, January 30.  Any time after that, you may take them home. 
 
The award winning projects are indicated by an "award winner" cut out that has been attached to those boards.  The actual ribbons will be given out by Ms. QK over the next few days. All students who have participated will recieve a ribbon. 
**If your project is an award winner, you need to visit Ms. QK on Friday to pick up the entry form for the Chester County Science Fair or Click Here for a copy to print out and bring to school.**
The Chester County Entry Form must come back to Ms. Quinn-Kerins.  Do not send it to the Intermediate Unit.  Only sign for the student and parent.  Ms. Quinn-Kerins is the adult sponsor.

2012 - 2013 Dates to Remember!
 
October 18 or 19, 2012 - Come to an interest meeting in Ms. QK's room either day to learn about the Science Fair!  Fill out the Permission Form if you are interested.
 
After you hand in your permission form, you can pick up the forms to fill out.  Ms. QK has copies that are highlighted in the places you need to fill in.  If you need extras, they are here.
All Projects need these 4 forms:
 
 
If your project involves humans in any way, you will need the Human Participants Form.  Fill out only the top and then check in with Ms. QK for directions about the IRB Board Approval.  You will also have to make a permission slip for all participants to sign.  The Informed Consent form can be used for this, or you can attach it to a permission form you design yourself.
 
If your project involves animals in any way, you will need the Vertebrate Animal Form 5A.  If you are working with animals in a lab, you will also need Vertebrate Animals 5B. 
 
***Remember that Ms. Quinn-Kerins is your adult sponsor.  Your parent's name only goes on form 1B, where the parent needs to sign.
 
 
 
 
October 26, 2012 - Hand in your Permission Form and $40 Activity Fee if you would like to participate.
 
November 2, 2012 - Research Plans and forms due for Projects that involve Humans or Vertebrate Animals.  You will need to fill out additional forms after this date for these projects.
 
November 9, 2012 - Research Plans and Forms due for all other projects.
 
November 16, 2012 - Quick check-in meeting for questions. Get back forms with approval or suggestions to edit.
 
Every Thursday in November, December, and January - Optional Check-in meeting for questions at recess in Ms. QK's room.
 
December - Conduct your experiment
 
January - Type up your results and design a project board
 
January 23, 2013 - Project Boards Due
 
January 24, 2013 - KDM Science Fair - Judges Come during the school day.  Results will be posted online after school around 6:00. 
 
January 25 and 28, 2013 - Parents are welcome to visit to see projects displayed in the 4-5 Common Area.
Projects will stay on display for about a week so other classes can come see them also.
 
March 5, 2013 - Chester County Science Fair! 
The Top 5 Projects in 4th Grade and the Top 5 Projects in 5th Grade will advance to this fair.
Students will be bused to the fair during the school day.
There is an Open House that evening for students to return and see the results.
