CREDIT AND COURSE
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
Minimum of 23 credits: Class of 2013 & 2014
Minimum of 24 credits: Class of 2015 and beyond
• English..... 4 credits
• Math..... 3 credits - classes of 2012 to 2014; 4 credits (class of 2015 and beyond)
• Science..... 3 credits
• Social Studies..... 3 credits
• Physical Education (1.5 credits-class of 2015 and 2016; 1.4 credits-class of 2014;
1.3 credits-class of 2013; and 1.45 credits-class of 2012)
• Health..... .75 credits (must include a full year in 9th grade and 1/2 year in 11th or 12th grade)
Science Credits: Must include Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Graduation Project: As per PA Chapter 4 Regulations, all senior students must complete a graduation project.
PSSA Tests: Must be proficient on State assessment or demonstrate proficiency on local assessment.
ELECTIVE COURSE CREDIT
Total Elective Credits... (7.75 class of 2015 and beyond; 7.85 class of 2014;
7.95 class of 2013 and 7.8 class of 2012)
A minimum of 2.00 credits of the total Elective Credits must be in the area of Arts and Humanities.
Arts and Humanities include all electives except those in the business department. Excess core classes
count as electives.
• Graduation Project: As per PA Chapter 4 Regulations, all senior students must complete a graduation project. Currently, this criteria is met through the autobiography in the senior English course.
PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS
Each year, a student is expected to make reasonable progress toward graduation from high school in four years. Therefore, the requirements to be promoted each year to the next grade level are determined by the credits a student has earned. Minimum credits:
Class of 2013 4.5 credits (earned in 9th grade)............................................. Promotion to: Grade 10
and 2014: 10 credits (earned in 9th & 10th grade)................................... Promotion to: Grade 11
16 credits (earned in 9th, 10th, & 11th grade).......................... Promotion to: Grade 12
Class of 2015 5.0 credits (earned in 9th grade).............................................. Promotion to: Grade 10
and beyond: 11 credits (earned in 9th & 10th grade).................................... Promotion to: Grade 11
17 credits (earned in 9th, 10th & 11th grade)............................ Promotion to: Grade 12
